From loud and intense LGBTQI clubs in Beirut, to its hustling and bustling Hamra main street full of street vendors, quirky shops, and people from all walks of life, to the loud and scary bombing incidents of 2006, and 2014… to riots and sleepless nights, to the slang words we use, and the crowded sea side boardwalks where families and fishermen gather and people like me enjoy running with a view at sunset, to feminism fashion and pop culture influences, I took it all in and expressed myself and my environment through these series of illustrations based off of memory and specific photos that I took while exploring the city. It was a fast and expressive way to find my voice back then.
